Can vertical rails be retrofitted to existing walls?
Yes. Rails include mounts and a transformer. If power can be routed to mounting points, retrofit to tiled walls is possible. Transformer commonly sits behind a switch plate or in the roof.
Do 12V rails get as warm as 240V rails?
Yes. Performance is based on wattage, not voltage. A 12V 30W rail heats like a 240V 30W rail.
What temperature does the rail reach?
Around 35°C without a towel. With a towel, beneath-towel temperature typically reaches 50–55°C.
Do I need a separate transformer for each rail?
Yes. Use one transformer per rail to avoid overload. Each rail includes its own transformer.
Where should the transformer be installed?
Within 2m of the rail in the ceiling or wall cavity. If in a wall cavity, it must be behind a switch plate with ventilation.
What spacing is recommended between multiple rails?
Approximately 200mm apart as a guide. Adjust to preference and allow for any installed hooks.
Can I wire multiple rails to one timer?
Yes. Do not exceed the timer’s load rating. All rails on the same timer operate together. Each rail must connect through its own transformer before the timer.
